Frequently Asked Questions - Auto

  1. How much protection should I buy?

You want to have enough protection in place to make sure that any physical damage to other's property will be covered, as well as any medical expenses due to injuries. There are many options. Speak with a TRICOR agent to discuss your need.
  2. What deductible should I carry?

You want to select a deductible that will fit into your personal budget. If you increase your deductible, it will reduce your premium.
  3. Will my rate increase if I have an accident?

TRICOR represents many of the top auto insurance companies available in the country. Some of the companies and plans do not increase your rate if you have an accident and others do. We will be happy to provide you with that information when you receive a quote.
  4. Should I carry comprehensive and collision insurance on my older vehicle?

It is advisable to have one vehicle with comprehensive and collision coverage. If you occasionally drive another individual's vehicle, your own comprehensive and collision coverage extends to you on the non-owned vehicle on an excess basis over their insurance.
  5. Should I purchase Original Equipment Part (OEM) coverage?

It usually costs between $10 and $20 a year to have OEM coverage added to your policy. This means that even though used parts are available, the repair shop will put new parts into your vehicle.
  6. What is uninsured and underinsured motorist's protection?

Uninsured motorist means that if you get hit by a person that does not have any insurance your own insurance policy will take care of you.

Underinsured motorist will pay for any of your remaining medical bills after the person who hit you has paid out all of their insurance coverage available from their policy.
